Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What does general purpose application mean when Summit says it does not meet DOE energy standards for residential use?
- General purpose applications: The appliance is designed for commercial or other non-residential settings, where the energy consumption rules are different. This includes uses in places like offices, hotels, dormitories, warehouses, medical facilities, or for specific commercial purposes.
- Does not meet DOE energy standards for residential use: The appliance does not meet the minimum energy efficiency standards established by U.S. Department of Energy. Using it in residential homes will violate the manufacturer’s intended purpose and might go against local building codes or utility regulations.
Q. Why is my refrigerator running too cold or freezing items?
- The thermostat may be set too low.
- A near-empty refrigerator can cause temperature fluctuations; adding items (like water bottles) helps stabilize cooling.
- Items placed too close to the cooling vent may freeze.
Q. Why is my refrigerator making excessive noise?
- Leveling and placement: Ensure the unit is on a stable, level surface and not in contact with walls or cabinets, which may cause rattling.
- Normal operation: Sounds such as gurgling (refrigerant flow) and popping or crackling (thermal expansion) are common.
- Condenser fan issues: A loud hum or vibration may indicate dirty condenser coils or a faulty fan, located at the back or bottom of the unit.
Q. Can this unit be built into cabinetry or placed under a counter?
A. No. The CT66LW is designed for freestanding use only, with rear ventilation, and is not suitable for built-in installation.
